Roy Liu.

I’m a computer science student
at UT Austin.

Most of my work is in the GAMMA Lab, where I use machine learning for materials research, and with Longhorn Racing, where I work on vehicle simulations. Outside of that, I play tennis.

Work

01 — 05
01

Internship / Quantum hardware

Logiqal

I spent summer 2026 building software for neutral-atom quantum computing experiments, from connecting lab instruments to calibrating optical waveforms and speeding up FPGA data acquisition.

02

Research / GAMMA Lab

GAMMA Lab

My research involves training neural networks to predict scattering data. I work on the model, the data pipeline, and how we handle the narrow peaks in the signal.

03

Engineering / Longhorn Racing

Longhorn Racing

Simulation work for UT Austin’s Formula SAE combustion team, from comparing lap times to processing damper data and engine logs.

Independent project / Machine learning

Stock Modeling

A project I started to explore short-term stock prediction. I tried several models, settled on boosted trees, and connected the pipeline to a paper-trading account.

Outside the lab / Tennis

Tennis

I played first singles in high school, where our team won the county championship and made it to the state finals.
